
NORTHERN IRELAND CAT CLUB RULES
1. Name & Object. The Club shall be called “The Northern Ireland Cat Club”. It shall endeavour in every way to promote general improvement in the breeding and exhibiting of cats. The Club shall hold an Annual Show at which all cats and kittens entered must be registered with the GCCF and shall only be entered under such name and number. Only exception, non-pedigree household pets.
2. Membership. The Club shall consist of an unlimited number of Members, Life Members and Hon. Members, whose names and addresses shall be listed by the Secretary. A copy of this list shall be available for inspection by the Members of the Club. Hon. Members and Members not resident in the UK shall not be eligible to vote. Before being accepted as a Member an applicant should be approved bythe Committee of the Club.
3. Subscriptions. The annual subscription for Members will be approved or amended at every AGM. Members will pay: (i) Adult, (ii) Junior (under 16 yrs), or (iii) Life Members. Subscriptions will be due on 1st April annually. Any member who has not paid the subscription by 1st July shall be considered a lapsed Member. Full privileges will be restored on payment of the subscription. New members who join on or after 1st January will be considered ‘paid up’ until 31st March of the following year but will be required to pay at the rate appropriate to the coming financial year. Lapsed members will not be afforded this privilege.
4. Management. The Officers of the Club shall be a President, three Vice-Presidents, a Chairman, three Vice-Chairman, an Hon. Secretary, an Hon. Treasurer and a Show Manager. The management of the Club shall be vested in a Committee consisting of the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer, Show Manager and six elected Members. All officers and Committee to be elected annually.
Before being elected as an ordinary Committee Member an applicant musthave been a member of the Club for one calendar year.(ii)To be elected an Officer of the Club an applicant must have been an ord.Committee Member at some time for one calendar year.
5. Powers of the Committee. The Committee shall be empowered to arbitrate in disputed matters; to approve the election of new Members; to fill vacancies on the Committee caused by resignation or death; to co-opt Members to the Committee in special circumstances, who shall hold office until the next AGM; to suspend or expel any Member or Officer whose conduct it may consider to have been in any way derogatory or injurious to the welfare of cats, or the Club; to approve Rules and Bye-laws; to deal with any question not provided for by the Rules.
The Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer shall be authorised to enrol new Club Members at any time, subject to approval by the Committee. The Committee shall be empowered to delegate any of its powers to a Sub-Committee. There shall be a meeting of the Committee as often as they be deemed necessary by the Hon. Secretary in consultation with the Chairman. Five Members shall form a quorum, of which at least two shall be Office Bearers.
The Show Manager or Cup Steward shall notify the winners of the Cupsand Trophies, but the Committee shall have absolute discretion in the matterof allowing Cups and Trophies to pass out of the possession of the Club.
6. General Meetings. The AGM shall be held on a date decided by the Committee and fourteen days notice thereof shall be given to every Member of the Club. At each AGM a report by the Hon. Secretary and a statement of the accounts for the past year shall be submitted for approval and adoption. The statement of accounts shall be circulated to the Members with the notice calling the meeting. The Committee
shall call a Special General Meeting for the purpose of transacting business connected with the one item for which the meeting has been called. No other business may be transacted at a Special General Meeting. Any alteration of, addition to, or deletion from the Rules shall require to be approved by a vote of not less than two-thirds of the Members present at an AGM or a Special General Meeting.
7. Method of Conducting Business. The Minutes of the proceedings at all meetings shall be kept in a book for the purpose and shall be read and approved at the next similar meeting except that the minutes of a Special General Meeting shall be read at the next General Meeting. All reasonable expenses incurred by the Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer shall be defrayed out of the funds of the Club.
8. No Member of the Club shall export any cat or kitten, registered or unregistered to Japan.
9. The Club is affiliated to the GCCF and will abide by the Rules and Regulations of that body.
